Yankees captain, Aaron Judge entered the All-Star Game break averaging .304 with 34 home runs and 85 RBI's for this 2024 season.
The New York Yankees started off this 2024 Major League Baseball Season with a bang going 10-0 from the opener in March into April. The streak may have ended shortly after that tenth win but overall, the team held their own under Judge’s captainship and Yankees newbie, Juan Soto’s constant numbers on the board. May treated the pinstripes well with a 21-7 record, leaving all us fans thinking, “will our fourteen year drought end?”
The Yankees have not received a World Series ring for fourteen years, most recently missing the postseason in 2023, so the New Yorkers are wishing for a shooting star that will land them the “World Champion” title. March, April, and May brought joy, however mid-June to now, the All-Star break, showed the Yanks on a slight struggle bus. June 13th marked the last won series for the bombers against the KC Royals, and eight series’ later, AL East leaders, the Orioles, fell to the Yankees to discard their month-long streak. The American League chose three of the Yankees biggies, Soto, Judge, and closer, Clay Holmes, to challenge Harper, Ohtani, and many more of the National League in the All-Star game, with the AL red coming out on top, so maybe this could be the turning point for the New York Yankees to go back to their victorious ways.
It’s been a rough several weeks for us, we acknowledged that… We’re competing our a**es off and starting to turn the corner and see the signs we want to see to turn this thing around.
— Aaron Boone, NYY Manager
The Yankees face another adversary, the Tampa Bay Rays, next July 18th-21st, so with Holmes, Soto, and Judge back in the pinstripes out in the Bronx with an All-Star win under their belt, New York natives are hoping for a fruitful second-half of the 2024 season, getting home-run hitter Stanton back from the injured list and Cole pitching over 95 mph again. Now to answer the initial question: time will tell for the Yankees, but with this break passing and positivity from the fans on their back, there is no question that the New York family can bring home number 28 this year.
